Honestly when I encountered the idea of using an RSS Feed I was skeptical, I was stuck in the old way of doing things when technology could have been helping me along (I believe I did once accidentally sign up for an RSS feed regarding a site, but most of my experience is getting a daily newsfeed e-mailed to me rather than every published article at my fingertips). I definitely know there are things that really hold me back from embracing some of these shortcuts, and specifically getting newsfeeds from places I frequent should be one of those shortcuts I take rather than having to seek them out every single day. For my Feedly I signed up for a few Food Business sites, one for MoodTracker that my company uses to send out surveys infrequently, the SHRM blog, of course my classmates and even a few places I've found through connections on my LinkedIn.
I think one of the major items that I've noticed is Feedly will help keep track of how active a source actually is, so if there's something that I'm no longer getting information from I can determine if it is worth staying subscribed to (though what harm is there with leaving it there as just a reference). These past few weeks have been fast-paced and it's still continuing on for the next twelve! Am I thinking that maybe six courses along with full-time work was a little much?
Not yet!
Maybe soon..
If you are looking for a career in Human Resources (be it development or otherwise) please do check out the SHRM blog!
I hope you are able to keep up! I have half the classes with full time work, and am still working at creating a good schedule!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your insights on newsletters versus RSS. I do not spend much time reading emails, so using an RSS feed makes more sense for me. I can seek it out when I have a few minutes instead of having to dig through my email to find the email newsletters.
